2050.

I lived in a world full of reason – lacking emotion. Some, with their arms raised and flags in hand, objected to any form of social norm. Any form of garden-variety likeness was unacceptable. The first African American President was elected. The world as we knew it, was inverted. America was capsized.

Do not mistake this for a call of warning to our future generations. Recognize this as a dubious reminder of the world as we knew it.

The word “recession” had become a part of our every day patter. Our children reenacted our getting “laid off” by informing their peers that the cause was only the feared recession and everything would soon be back into its regular routine. It would not.

The earth was suddenly in dire need of saving. The call to “Go Green” was perpetual. Between “Eco Friendly” bags, organic makeup and clothes, and “Earth lover” tees – it seemed as if our earth was clothed in protection. Literally. But was it really? Were our means of advertisement really fulfilling their duty? I think not.

Babies were no longer humans. Only lifeless object with no means of fighting for their rights – no means they would ever know. We were fighting. Fighting as the lionhearted. Sadly, our adversary was waging a war greater than some thought we could handle. Human life was questioned. Human life was compromised.

Education was given but was not clutched. Those who longed for a path to excellence were rejected by a higher learning system. Those who rejected a high learning system were handed education on a silver platter. And still they declined indoctrination. Those who worked to receive high marks were shunned by institutes of their choosing because of their high income, lack of ethnicity, or rejection of deviation. My heart continues to cry out for those scholars who were cast away from the higher learning systems from which they wished to be enlightened.

As I reminisce - over my daily cup of tea - I rejoice in the trials we have overcome and I am reminded of those battles that we have lost. I am thankful for our upended history. I praise our Creator for the changes that have taken place. And finally, I pray for our future. I pray for ordinate reason and lives full of emotion and passion.

con amore,
teacup
